Jules Compacteur’s Investigations
Among the thirty characters who appear in my stories, twelve suffer various misfortunes while also inflicting harm on other protagonists. Their plots intertwine, and each character demonstrates, in their own way, the truth of the maxim “Hell is other people.”
The “Read” menu allows you to discover the misdeeds committed and the misfortunes suffered by these twelve characters in one of the three versions of my stories.
In the interactive version, the ingredients are text, images and computer code. The reading experience begins when you click on a face.
This is the face of John Pyne, a tyrant who rules over ChronoEmpire. The same face displayed in the background means: “John Pyne is watching you.”
The protagonists
If you click on John Pyne’s face, three faces appear side by side:
This system provides access to all thirty characters. The displayed text corresponds to the active character, whose face is positioned on the left. When you click on the second or third face, that character moves into the first position. This makes it possible to browse through all the characters while limiting the number of displayed faces to three.
Jules’s face appears first, together with the corresponding text. If you click on the second face, Ariana Chrono becomes the active character.
The “Virgin Islands” button allows you to view the place where the gynoid was created.
The text presents the main events that shaped Ariana’s existence before she was disconnected:
- her love life;
- the discovery of her remains;
- Jules’s investigation.
When you reach the bottom of the page, click on the “Who is guilty?” button to display the faces of the three suspects:
When you click on one of the faces, the victim describes the misfortune they suffered.
Ariana may have been disconnected by John Pyne, who exercises his rights as her owner.
Ariana may have been disconnected by Christine Legall, who fights against the replacement of human beings by androids.
Ariana may have been disconnected by Ève Legall, a GoodGold creature who wants to destroy what she considers to be the work of the devil.
By clicking on the “Case File” icon, you identify the character you believe to be guilty.
The case file that opens presents the evidence against the suspect.
You confirm your choice by clicking on Jules’s image.
When you click on Jules’s face, Ariana Chrono’s image appears greyed out among the other protagonists if your choice matches the author’s version of events. Ariana Chrono is then considered to have been disconnected.
You may then activate another protagonist, who will suffer a different series of misfortunes. The game continues in this way until the final protagonist remains alone amid an army of zombies.
